Alberto the Accountant!
Cyclists at the Gun Show--Palermini v. Contador. Results unavailable because of pay-per-view agreement.
Big visitor in the office today...Spainard Alberto Contador stopped by for a little product feedback and company meet-and-greet today. Contador (which means 'accountant' in Spanish and thusly is the inspiration for the Palin-esque title of today's election day post) has won all three of cycling's Grand Tours within the last two years--the Giro d' Italia and Vuelta a Espana this year, and the Tour de France last year--an feat which places him among the legends of the sport. Only Jacques Anquetil (1963), Felice Gimondi (1968), Eddy Merckx (1973) and Bernard Hinault in (1980) have matched the achievement--and attaining it in the modern era of race specialization makes Contador's bid all the more remarkable.
Though he speaks marginal English (much more acceptably than I speak Spanish), he comes across as humble, grateful and endearing...not to mention very young (25), and waifishly thin (if we actually did arm wrestle, I might have broken his arm).
I work at a cool place.
